Legal position, risk warning and disclosure

This page states plainly what this site is, what it is not, what it discloses and what it cannot tell you. It is written to be read once, in full, rather than skimmed for a disclaimer.

§1Nature of the content

Everything on this site is general educational material about how pooled betting markets are constructed. It is not betting advice, financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice or regulatory advice, and it is not a recommendation to place a bet, to open an account, to use any particular pool or to adopt any approach to staking.

The site is intended for adults. Betting is a regulated activity in many jurisdictions and is restricted or prohibited in some. It is the reader's responsibility to know and follow the law where they are, and to use only operators that are lawfully permitted to serve them.

§2Affiliate disclosure

The site contains affiliate links to a partner operator. Those links are marked as sponsored, carry rel="sponsored noopener", and pay this site a commission if a reader opens an account through them. The commission is paid by the operator and costs the reader nothing.

The disclosure is repeated on every page rather than kept here, and the affiliate relationship has no influence on what the site publishes. No operator has reviewed, approved or contributed to any page, and no page is sponsored content. Nothing on this site is written to make a pool, a ticket or a dividend look more attractive than the arithmetic says it is.

§3Risk warning

Betting is gambling and it carries a real risk of loss. That includes the loss of money needed for other things, and the harm that follows from it: debt, damage to relationships, and damage to mental health. Pool betting has a risk profile of its own, and it is worth stating in one place.

  • No price when you bet
  • A cut on every winner
  • Your own stake dilutes you
  • No exit and no transfer
  • Rules decide the rest

There is no strategy on this site, and nothing on it is a route to profit. The return on a ticket is not known when the ticket is bought and depends on money that arrives afterwards. The take is removed from the pool before any dividend exists, so a winning ticket is cut by the same proportion as every other winning ticket in the pool. A bettor's own stake reduces the dividend their own ticket receives, and on a thin pool that reduction can be a large fraction of the dividend. A pool ticket is normally not transferable, so a stake is committed for the life of the pool. In multi-leg and jackpot pools the payout can also depend on how many other tickets qualify, which is not knowable before settlement.

Never stake money you cannot afford to lose, never borrow money to bet, and never increase a stake to recover one that has been lost.

§4The rules belong to the operator, not to this site

Every pool described on this site is administered under the rules of the operator that runs it. Those rules govern the takeout, the declared dividend unit, breakage and rounding, the number of positions a place pool pays, the treatment of ties, consolations, guaranteed and carried-over amounts, the handling of non-runners, withdrawals and abandoned events, and whether any buy-back or cash-out offer exists at all. They differ between operators, they change without notice, and they are the only authoritative source for what a ticket pays.

Nothing on this site should be read as a statement about the rules of any operator, and no operator's conduct, licensing, solvency, pricing or compliance is described or implied anywhere in it.

§5Support and limits

Free and confidential support for gambling harm exists in most countries. National helplines are published by gambling regulators and by licensed operators, and they are for the person gambling and for the people around them. Using one does not require admitting anything to anybody else.

On a licensed account, deposit, loss and time limits, a reality check, a time-out and self-exclusion are normally available. Self-exclusion is the strongest of these because it cannot be undone in the moment when it would matter most, and it typically applies across several operators at once. None of these tools is less relevant because a ticket settles in an hour rather than immediately, or because the bet was placed into a pool rather than at a book.

§6Accuracy, rights and contact

The site is static HTML with no analytics, no cookies and no scripts other than the structured data in each page head. It collects nothing about its readers and has no accounts, no comments and no forms.

Figures on the site are of two kinds, and are labelled where they appear. Arithmetic — such as the division that turns a net pool and the money on a winner into a dividend — is exact and checkable from the inputs shown beside it. Diagrams, boards and tables that illustrate a mechanism are explicitly illustrative, describe no real operator, pool or event, and are not measurements. Where a real figure would be needed to support a claim, the claim is made qualitatively instead, and the absence of a figure is deliberate rather than an oversight.

The sponsored link

The only commercial element, disclosed on every page

The partner link below is sponsored, it pays this site if you open an account through it, and it is the only commercial element anywhere on this site. It is not an invitation to bet.

Affiliate disclosure and risk warning

Every affiliate link on this page and in the header is a sponsored link to a partner operator, and we may be paid if you open an account through it, at no extra cost to you. That link pays us; it does not change the takeout in any pool, it does not change the dividend your ticket receives, and it is never a recommendation to bet. Nothing on this page is betting, financial, tax or legal advice, and no figure on it is a prediction or a measurement of any real pool. 18+ only. Betting is gambling, and pool betting has a risk profile of its own: the return on your ticket is not known when you place it and depends on money that arrives afterwards, the operator's take is removed from the pool before anybody is paid, your own stake lowers the dividend your own ticket receives, a losing pool share and a losing fixed-odds bet are equally gone, and a pool ticket normally cannot be sold back or transferred. Gambling can cause serious financial harm, including debt and damage to relationships and mental health. Never stake money you cannot afford to lose, never borrow to bet, and never increase a stake to chase a loss. Free, confidential support is available in most countries from national gambling-harm helplines, for bettors and for the people around them.
